The Fellowship is home to a variety of active committees, community projects, social and fund-raising events.
Help for Homeless Families
Through Family Promise of Reno/Sparks for one week every three months we turn our church buildings into shelters for homeless families. In our kitchen, volunteers cook and serve meals and provide other assistance for homeless parents and their children. Volunteers are always needed.
Social Justice
The Fellowship has been involved in community projects on a variety of issues through its Social Justice Committee. The group developed projects ranging from assisting our young people to sell florescent light bulbs to presenting a Northern Nevada public meeting on local and global water issues. Individual members have a variety of specific interests including women’s issues and anti-death penalty work. In addition many members are volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The Fellowship is also working to create a Green Sanctuary by reducing our energy consumption, building awareness of environmental issues and other activities.
Other Committees
Committees also plan social events, develop educational seminars, assist with building and landscape maintenance, and conduct the financial affairs of the congregation.
In addition to our serious endeavors, we offer many, many activities for fun. The Fellowship offers men and women's groups and a book club, holds movie nights and banquets at the Fellowship. Many members are interested in the outdoors and impromptu hikes in the Sierras are popular. Our small Circle Dinners are a great way to meet new people. Our annual Fall Fair, Fall Art Show and Sale and our special Service Auction are other involvement opportunities.
