Religious education for young people is directed by the Fellowship's Life Span Religious Education Council, a diverse group of people with the goal of providing a positive, joyful experience for our children and youth.
In the words of our former director of religious education, Betsy Darr, the program will help children develop values of kindness, tolerance, generosity, responsibility and caring. We want to nurture the spontaneous religious nature of all children and help them stay in touch with wonder and gratitude. In addition, our education program can help children deal with the forces of birth, growth, sex, and death.
Weekly Schedule
Children join their families at the beginning of the congregational service for 15 minutes for the
opening and a Story For All Ages. Children then leave with their teachers to the adjoining building for age-appropriate classes. After the classes, children return to the Gathering Room with their teachers for a snack of juice and vegetables from the Youth Garden, and to socialize with the rest of the congregation.
Classes are divided into kindergarten to second grade; grades 3-5; grades 6-8; and grade 9 through 20 years old. Childcare is also available. |
